MotionSeer

Motion Detected. You Protected.

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: February 19, 2026

Introduction

Welcome to MotionSeer, a motion detection security camera application (also referred to as “The App”, “we” or “us“ or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. The App is designed to function with minimal data collection, focusing primarily on providing security monitoring features directly on your device. We do not use intermediate servers or databases to store your data, and all processing occurs locally unless you explicitly enable features like iCloud backup or Google Drive uploads.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide the App’s core functionalities and only when it is transmitted to us or our service providers.

Personal Information

  • Email Address: The only personal information we collect is the email address you voluntarily provide. This is used solely to send motion detection alerts and occasional important app-related notifications (such as low battery warnings or critical device temperature alerts).
We do not collect any other personal identifiers, such as your name, phone number, precise location (beyond device-based features), or other contact details.

Non-Personal Information

We do not collect analytics, crash reports, usage statistics, or any other non-personal data unless explicitly required for core functionality (and even then, it is processed locally where possible).

Permissions and On-Device Features

To deliver the App’s motion detection and security camera features, the App requires access to certain device sensors and capabilities. All processing of this data occurs locally on your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party under our control:

  • Camera and Microphone: Used for visual motion detection, person detection, sound/noise detection, and recording short video clips when triggered.
  • Motion Sensors (via CoreMotion): Used to detect device movement or orientation changes that may indicate relevant activity.
  • Video Recordings: Generated locally upon motion detection and stored securely on your device only.
  • Live Streaming Data: A temporary, secret URL is generated directly on your device when you enable live streaming (via the toggle in the app). This allows secure browser-based viewing of the live camera feed.
The connection is designed to work directly between your device and the viewer (peer-to-peer style) whenever possible. In cases where a direct connection isn’t possible — for example due to strict network settings, firewalls, or NAT restrictions — a secure TURN server may be used to help relay the encrypted data between the two parties. In all cases, the communication remains end-to-end encrypted and private: no one, including us, can view, store, or intercept the stream.
Only the person who has the current secret URL can access the live feed, and only while Monitoring is active and live streaming is toggled on in the app. For your security:
    • Only one viewer can connect at a time. You can regenerate the URL at any moment from the app, which immediately invalidates all previous URLs.
    • Keeping the URL private is your responsibility (just like any password or sharing link). If you ever suspect it has been shared or compromised, simply generate a new one to instantly revoke access.

You control these features through iOS privacy permissions (Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera/Microphone/etc.). Granting access is optional, but required for core functionality. We do not access, view, store, or process any camera feed, audio, sensor readings, recordings, or live streams.

If you enable optional features like iCloud backup or Google Drive upload for recordings, those transfers occur directly between your device and your linked account — we do not access or control them.

How We Collect Information

  • Directly from You: You provide your email address when setting up notifications.
  • Automatically from Your Device: Through app permissions, we access camera, microphone, storage, and sensors to enable monitoring and recording features. These permissions are requested upon first use and can be managed in your device settings.
  • Third-Party Services: If you enable iCloud or Google Drive integration, data is sent directly to those services under their respective privacy policies. We do not act as an intermediary.

We do not use cookies, trackers, or advertising IDs in the App.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely for the following purposes:

  • To send email notifications for motion detection events (visual, person, noise, or device movement).
  • To send occasional app-related alerts, such as battery low, critical temperature or low storage warnings.
  • To enable local video recording and storage on your device.
  • To facilitate optional backups to iCloud or uploads to Google Drive, as initiated by you.
  • To generate and manage secret URLs for live streaming, ensuring secure, direct access from your device.

We do not use your information for marketing, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to the App’s functionality. All data processing occurs on your device to maintain privacy.

Sharing Your Information

We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your personal information to third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We may use third-party services for email delivery (e.g., SMTP providers). These providers are bound by strict confidentiality and only process your email address for sending notifications.
  • User-Initiated Sharing: If you enable iCloud backup or Google Drive uploads, your video files are shared directly with Apple or Google, respectively. Please review their privacy policies for details on how they handle your data.
  • Live Streaming: When enabled, the secret URL allows you to access your live feed, but this is under your control. It is your responsibility to keep the URL secure and not share it with unauthorized individuals. We do not monitor or access streams.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a court order, subpoena, or government request, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to equivalent privacy protections.

Nobody except you has access to your video files or live streams.

Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: All video recordings and sensor data are stored securely on your device using standard encryption methods provided by your operating system (e.g., iOS file protection).
  • Cloud Storage: If enabled, backups occur directly to iCloud or Google Drive, where security is managed by those providers.
  • Data Retention: We do not retain any data on our end. Email addresses are stored locally on your device for notification purposes. You can delete or change your email at any time via app settings. Video files remain on your device until you delete them.
  • Security Measures: We implement reasonable security practices to protect your email address during transmission (e.g., for notifications). However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. For live streaming, use secure networks and rotate URLs regularly.

You are responsible for securing your device and any shared URLs.

Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and Control: You can access, update, or delete your email address at any time through the App’s settings. The email address is visible and editable/deletable right in the app’s settings. Video recordings are saved locally on the device or in your iCloud/Google Drive account (which you control fully).
  • Opt-Out: You can disable notifications or revoke permissions (e.g., camera access) via your device settings.
  • Data Portability: Video files are stored locally and can be exported or backed up as needed.
  • Do Not Track: The App does not respond to Do Not Track signals, as we do not track users.
  • European Users (GDPR): If you are in the EU/EEA, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object to processing of your personal data, and data portability where applicable. Because the App processes personal data (your email address for notifications) locally on your device with no central storage or database controlled by us, you can exercise most of these rights directly through the App’s settings (e.g., view, update, or delete your email address) or your device/cloud provider settings (e.g., manage recorded videos). No action on our part is typically required, as we do not store or access your personal data. However, if you wish to confirm that we hold no data concerning you, make a complaint, or have any other inquiry related to your GDPR rights, please contact us using the details below.
  • California Users (CCPA/CPRA): California residents have rights to know, delete, and opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not store, access or sell your information.

To exercise any rights, contact us as described below.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or 16 in some jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, features, or legal requirements. The updated version will include a new “Effective Date” at the top. It is your responsibility to periodically review this policy for any updates. The revised policy becomes effective on the date it is posted. Your continued use of the App after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the App.
